Aug. 2007. Six stereo images of hummingbirds have been added. Shot with a macro beamsplitter rig and 1/30,000 sec flashes. May 2005. Although canyons have been photographed a lot, even quite a bit in stereo by now, this exhibit is of some historical interest. Due to a long drought in the desert west, on April 8, 2005 Lake Powell sunk to its lowest level in decades. The surface of the lake was at elevation 3555.1 feet, almost 150 feet below the "full pool" level established by the Glen Canyon Dam. Although still well above the natural pre-dam state of the Colorado River as it wound down through Glen Canyon, the unforeseen and incredible reduction in water level caused the resurfacing of many long-hidden features of the Glen: side-canyon arches, bridges, and alcoves, that had been submerged for decades.
