The photographs
shown on this site are exclusively two-image (left-right)
stereo pairs. Exhibits should: a)
Show images resulting from the use of novel techniques or
instruments. b)
Present stereoscopic views of unusual subjects in science,
technology, or nature. c) Use 3D
imaging to explore traditional subjects in a manner that
reveals new insight (over 2D photography). or d)
Demonstrate an artistic vision in
which the stereoscopic effect is central to the art.
This is an educational site and all images must comply with
gallery policy and the guidelines above.
Non-compliant exhibits will be removed.
SUBMISSIONS:
Each exhibitor is
assigned one or more gallery pages, one for each category. New submissions
on eac page can
replace old ones if the space limit is exceeded. An individual can exhibit in more than one
category. Each gallery page should be uniform in content,
reflecting one of the
Gallery's foci:
-
Landscapes and Nature (normal or hyper-stereo).
-
Macro-photography
(close-ups obtained via hypo-stereo or short-base imaging).
-
Photo-microscopy
(high magnification 3D).
-
Science and
Technology (images of objects of scientific or technical
interest) .
-
Stereo-art
(analog or computer-generated compositions in which stereo perspective is
central).
A gallery
exhibit is established and maintained through direct electronic uploading and editing by
each individual user. Users will be given a password
that will allow them access to their own areas of the gallery's
database. Simple management tools, accessed over the web,
enable a user to maintain his or her gallery spaces.
IMAGE FORMATS:
1)
Digital images should uploaded as 2048 x 768 (or thereabouts)
parallel-pair jpegs. The left half of the 2048x768 pair
contains the 1024x768 left-eye image, while the right half contains
the right-eye data. Color or gray anaglyphs may also be
submitted. As far as possible, anaglyphs should be 1024x768
jpegs. Although such sizes are preferred, stereo-pairs as
small at 1201 pixels wide (e.g. 640 x 480 per side), or
anaglyphs as large as 1199 pixels wide, may be submitted. The
aspect ratio need not be exactly 4:3, but wide panoramas and
vertical formats do not display well over the web and are
discouraged.
2) The pair
(or anaglyph) should be
registered for the desired stereo window, and all other corrections
should made before uploading over the web. The split between the L & R
images should be exactly at the middle of the pair (for automated
formatting by the server).
3)
Stereo-pairs should be compressed to around 200KB (100KB for
anaglyphs). ANY IMAGE OVER 300 KILOBYTES WILL
NOT LOAD.
4) Exhibitors
are asked to provide a title, as well as a brief description of the subject
and/or the technique used to make the image.
5)
Image pixel dimension MUST BE IN THE RANGE: 600 - 2500 wide,
300 - 1024 tall.
TO INITIATE A
GALLERY PAGE:
1) Describe
what sort of images (generally) you want to put up. Attaching
a small sample parallel pair is helpful. 2)
State which category or categories of images (see the bullets above)
you wish to upload. 3)
Give the Name (your first and last, or a string) that you want to
appear at the top of each gallery page.
4) Provide an
email address for us to send you a confirmation and a password to
access your page. Send this info to John Hart, 311UCB, University
of Colorado, Boulder, CO 80309. He will email you passwords and setup info. |
