This site was set up with the goal of providing a mechanism for sharing of high quality stereoscopic imagery.  It initially started out as a gallery of stereo macro-photography, or "close-ups", along with 3D photo-microscopy.  These areaa are prevalent in, and have utility for, subjects like fluid dynamics, biology, geology, and many other areas.  Later we added more general stereo imagery of subjects of scientific and technological interest, as well as photographs representing stereo as an art in itself.  Stereo photography is carried out using a wide array of interesting techniques.  The range of subjects that benefit from viewing in depth is extensive and diverse.  By providing a forum for observing stereo imagery in a simple manner, with many viewing options, we hope the whole field will benefit, and that advances in methodology can be readily shared and appreciated.  Another goal is, of course, to display the excitement and usefulness of stereo photography in both science and art venues, and to attract new participants.
